The time he truly protected us was at a rest stop. My mom, my 8-year-old sister, and my 11-year-old self were together. We had Willy on a leash, and we were headed from the dog area back to the car. A man approached us, and he was creepy. Besides the fact that he was drunk, something was just wrong about his approach. His eyes looked driven. I don’t know how to say it right. I haven’t seen my mom scared often. She was scared.
