My mom tolerated the band shirts but my parents drew the line at long hair. Kids who liked heavy metal were school drop outs who smoked, drank alcohol, did drugs, and had frivolous sex before even leaving junior high. My grades were good. I did none of the things that “those” kids did (the sex might have been nice though). But my parents didn’t want me to look like those others or people would look at me as an unfavourable type.
