Fortunately, people don’t seem to think I’m American which started the whole thing – I was 20 & went to Britain (Scotland) to university – I would get asked directions by tourists sometimes, as if I were local LOL I’m of Scottish ancestry, & some Dutch, BTW. In Spain, I asked about this (I was in the Navy & with a group of other Navy types – I’m the one the shop owners came to thinking I was the native guide or something – I speak FRENCH, not Spanish LOL). I was told, my shoes, no jeans, the fact I tried speaking in French to them first…who knows?
