Find what you like and copy it. Integrate it into your writing. You might find that you hate it or have to adjust it, but it’s a good place to start. Most importantly? Keep writing. Write in every style that intrigues you. Don’t worry about consistency—that’ll come with time. I tend to be rather good at unconsciously picking up speech patterns in both spoken and written language, which is great when I am editing someone else’s work but considerably less than great when writing my own stuff. So I don’t generally try to switch between reading and writing; I do something in between.
