We chatted about trivia but a couple of times he said something like “boy, that guy is really angry a lot of the time,” referring to my boss. I didn’t elaborate but I did say that yes, it was a very tense work environment and we all lived in fear of being the next victim. Over a period of months I would see this man and he would inquire in a friendly, conversational way about how we were all doing in the department or that it appeared we all worked well together and that it was good we all had each other in such unpleasant working conditions.
