As soon as I finished showering and putting on my nightgown, and went to the guest bedroom, a horrid stench of excess insecticide, paint fumes (volatile organic chemicals evaporating off of paint), and stale air hit me like a slap to my face. It was that bad. I could hardly breathe, and a wave of nausea from the stink was starting up. I quickly went to open a window, to air the place out and reduce the odors. My hubby’s aunt heard me open the window, came to me and said, in a tone of slight panic, “What are you doing? Close that right away, or it will let bugs in.”
